Community Employability Programmes
What is it?
Community Employability Programmes support people who are underrepresented in the labour market including young, old and disabled people; Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people; and those with care responsibilities.
Employers can access a number of programmes to supply their workforce which operate across Wales, with local delivery teams in each area. These include Communities for Work, Communities for Work Plus and Parents, Childcare and Employment.
Specialist support is available for both the employer and individual from the local teams who work intensively with participants to help them overcome their barriers, from training and childcare to travel or anything else preventing them gaining employment.
You will work with officers who will support your recruitment needs, identify participants with skills which suit your business.
If you have multiple vacancies, they could develop a bespoke programme to supply you with a number of appropriately trained candidates.
Community Employability Programmes form part of the Young Person’s Guarantee for 16–24-year-olds.
Who’s eligible?
- Businesses of any size in any sector in Wales.
What are the benefits?
Businesses who take on individuals through these programmes will be helping those furthest from the labour market to enter employment. You’ll be able to tap into motivated individuals who are determined to make the most of an opportunity to enter the labour market, with support from an Employer Liaison Officer and mentors who will identify participants. If you take on a young person aged 16-24, you’ll also be participating in the Young Person’s Guarantee.
