Finding good people with the right skills is the key to success. Sometimes these people, through no fault of their own, have been made redundant.

Clwyd Riding School

By recruiting someone who has been made redundant you can benefit from the Redundancy Action Scheme (ReAct). The scheme will help you pay their wages and fund job-related training to sharpen skills. So you get the right person for the job – and reduce your staff costs.

What it's about

We are all talented people. Those who lose their jobs through no fault of their own shouldn’t be left standing on the sidelines. It’s bad for them and it's bad for business.

ReAct offers a package of support to help those who’ve been made redundant get back into work quickly. It’s good news for them – and even better news for you.

How it works

When you employ a qualifying recruit, we’ll give you up to £3,000 in quarterly instalments for the first 12 months to help cover their wages. We will also pay up to £1,000 for any job-related skills training needed to bring them up to speed.

It makes employing someone who’s just been made redundant a very attractive proposition.

Who is eligible

The person you wish to recruit should be under formal notice of redundancy or have been made redundant within the last 3 months. They must also have been resident in Wales when the redundancy notice was issued.

The job offered should be for 16 hours a week or more, expected to last at least 12 months and not supported by any other public or European funding. Also, your business must not have reached the 'de minimis' threshold for State Aid which stipulates a limit to the amount of funding Welsh Government can provide.

The recruit will be disqualified from the scheme if they start working for you before your application for funding has been approved or have been in continuous employment for 6 weeks or more since being made redundant. Other conditions apply.

What’s in it for you

  • improve your productivity and competitiveness through recruiting quality staff
  • get funding support for further training to sharpen the skills of new recruits
  • significantly reduce your staffing costs
  • boost your working capital
  • lower overheads and increase profit

It's TIME to find people with the right skills
