GO Wales
The achieve through Work Experience programme works with young students in Higher Education who face barriers to securing work experience. Employers can help by hosting work experience opportunities.
How it Works
The programme works with students to establish their needs and then contacts employers to identify and organise work shadowing, work taster and work placement opportunities. Employers are supported to ensure that the work placement is a positive experience for both them and the student.
What's in it for the business?
Businesses that take part will be supporting a student to improve their work related skills while demonstrating corporate social responsibility. They will also have the opportunity to talent spot and benefit from new ideas. Depending on the type of work experience hosted, the business can also take the opportunity to have a project completed.
If you host a paid placement, you will be expected to pay the student at least the National Minimum wage. You may however be eligible for a subsidy of 50% of the wages from the programme.
