A North Wales company is celebrating today after winning one of the top food awards in the UK. The Great Taste Awards, recognised as the Oscars of the food world, were held in London last night and the Patchwork Traditional Food Company scooped the award for best regional produce in the Wales category.

Having already been awarded three stars by the Great Taste and having its Red Pesto Pate named among the top 50 products this year, the Denbighshire based company is now celebrating a further honour following a glittering ceremony in the heart of London last night.

Managing Director Rufus Carter is incredibly proud of the company’s achievement, he said “Out of 10,000 products entered in the Great Taste Awards, only 153 were awarded three stars so for us to get that far and then be named in the top 50 was fantastic. Winning this further award is just the icing on the cake – we couldn’t be more thrilled.

Our company has grown a bit over the years but our produce is still made in small batches to try and ensure we retain the quality of taste our loyal customers enjoy. This recognition is just reward for our staff’s hard work and dedication over the years.”

121 products from Wales were this year awarded one, two or three stars from 62 businesses, some of them also featuring on the menu at the recent NATO summit events held in Newport.

The Patchwork Traditional Food Company is one of the companies representing Wales at the Speciality and Fine Food Fair in London, which coincides with the Great Taste Awards. The Fair is the UK’s largest trade event for the sector and attracts buyers from far and wide so is a key platform for Welsh businesses to promote their produce.
