I am a business adviser with decades of experience, including Board Directorships of 2 large companies turning over just under £100M and employing about 1000 staff. I was Service Director for 18 years (heading up Service and Maintenance, Facilities, ICT, H&S, Compliance, Quality, Tendering and Finance) and then Commercial Director for 2 years (heading up Contracts, Finance, Client journey, ICT, Health and Safety, Compliance, Quality, Tendering and mobilisations). Before that, I traded with the Middle East for 20 years. After turning freelance in 2020, I worked for a number of the subsidiaries of the Sureserve Group, primarily K&T Heating (£55M turnover), Aaron Services, Sureserve Fire and Electrical. I then turned around Precision Lifts (£14.5M subsidiary of Sureserve), for sale to a Chinese Conglomerate. That assignment was completed in September 2023, after which I became fully independent, taking on only smaller businesses. I have been doing that ever since.
I have spent my career in big-business. Even after becoming freelance in 2020, I continued to support large companies with assignments ranging from mobilisation of a social housing contract of 24,000 properties (achieved in 3-months), to tendering for Gas, Electrical, Fire and Construction contracts, and rescue of the failing Lift Company (above) for subsequent sale to a Chinese Group. For that assignment, I lived for 7 months in Basildon. These assignments were immensely challenging and also very well-paid, but my real passion is helping others, particularly small or even micro-companies, husband and wife teams and startups. It gives me enormous satisfaction to use my extensive experience and the skills I have learned over the years to provide hands-on support, so my clients won’t make the common mistakes that drive so many to failure. I also work with the people to reduce their stress and give them somebody they can call 24/7/365/366.
