Phil Clements

Phil is a former steel industry executive looking to help others with his experience gained from a broad range of senior leadership roles in Tata Steel and its predecessors. He was most recently UK Technical Director, responsible for research and development (including academic research collaborations with UK universities) and all technical activities across the UK business. Prior to that he was Managing Director of a subsidiary business responsible for operations and sales in plants in the UK, Canada and Sweden. He also has sales and marketing experience gained from positions leading an international sales team and from leading the new product development programme for Tata Steel Europe.  He has extensive experience of leading large teams, either directly or through a functional matrix. He has been a mentor to younger company professionals for many years. Whilst he has a broad range of business skills his primary expertise is in new product development and product management (maximising value by actively managing the product portfolio). He has a PhD in Metallurgy and is also a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
