Food & Drink Skills Wales are offering a series of online workshops for food and drink manufacturing and processing businesses with a focus on decarbonisation and moving towards net zero. These will be delivered by Mabbett & Associates.
Workshop Overview
This workshop will look at reduction solutions in food waste and packaging waste. Looking at ‘The Food Waste Hierarchy’ which includes waste prevention, re-use for human consumption and re-use in animal feed etc. The information will enable you to target waste and carbon ‘hot spots’ and implement initiatives that will lead to most effective change.

- Communicating your Food Waste & Packaging Decarbonisation
Learning Outcomes:
- Aware of the importance of moving the Food & Drink sector towards Net Zero Carbon, with focus on the GHG emissions associated with food waste.
- Familiar with the Waste Hierarchy and how to apply this good practice waste management approach to both food and packaging materials.
- Aware of the ‘true cost’ of food and packaging waste by looking at the hidden financial and business impacts.
- Aware of a range of food waste and packaging decarbonisation actions that could be implemented by your organisation, including familiarity with measuring, monitoring and targeting techniques.
- Able to communicate to others how food waste and packaging decarbonisation actions will support your organisation with its decarbonisation.
The workshops are delivered online and are fully funded for food and drink manufacturing businesses.
They are interactive and allow plenty of discussion for participants to share their own experience through breakout sessions and time to ask the experts questions.
After attending the workshop, participants can access a free 30 minute one-to-one session with the course tutor.
