Welsh Government launched its Anti-racist Wales Action Plan (ArWAP) in June 2022, updated in 2024. Its aim is to develop a transformational path towards creating an anti-racist Wales by 2030. The plan is intended to be a framework which strives to deliver real actions to make progress towards its ambitious target. To ensure the plan is based on reality of racism rather than theory, it has been developed through a process of co-production, reflecting the diverse array of stakeholders. Co-production and advice has primarily come from an ArWAP External Accountability Group (EAG) of appointed persons.
ArWAP currently references the need to include actions for climate change and environmental matters by June 2026 when a further ArWAP is published. Welsh Government wishes to establish a specific subgroup for climate change and environmental matters to support action development. The subgroup would comprise experts and persons representative of the diversity of ethnic minority interests.
