Food Skills Cymru are working with a number of training providers to offer businesses in the food and drink processing and manufacturing industry in Wales the opportunity to develop their Leadership and Management skills.
The purpose of the training course is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge they need in order to develop themselves as team leaders, managers or supervisors.
Course content addresses specific elements of leadership and management including identifying leadership styles and understanding the effect they have on colleagues; how to use feedback and self-review to enhance individuals’ leadership skills, developing communication skills and promoting the ability to help teams align with organisations’ overarching goals and vision.
Two successful businesses that have taken advantage of the training available are vegetarian produce pioneers The Parsnipship and Pembrokeshire brewers Bluestone Brewing. The training courses have helped staff within both companies to expand and improve their leadership and management skills.
Amy Evans, Sales Director of Bluestone Brewing completed the Bespoke Team Leading training,
“I’m particularly thankful for the training and support provided through this course, and feel far more confident when approaching matters concerning leadership and management within the business. I also feel that my colleagues have more confidence in me to drive the company forward with each individual’s wishes, thoughts and contributions in mind. “Our production manager completed the Production Team Leading training course. This helped her to reflect on her approach to managing the kitchen team and to put into practise what she learnt whilst on the course. As a growing business, recently taking on new staff, her team has doubled in size so the course has been crucial in helping her prepare for this.”
Food Skills Cymru supports accredited training and can work with individual companies to develop tailored bespoke training courses, based on businesses specific requirements.
