Welsh food and drink companies are exploring new ways of exporting

Welsh Government Food Division (Lead Partner), cross-government partners Welsh Government - Innovation Health, Education, Procurement, Welsh Local Government Association, Innovate UK, Innovation Strategy were honoured alongside the Welsh procurement community’s finest recently at the Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Wales 2020, held on 19 June.

A blueprint for safe, productive working by manufacturers during Covid-19 will give the food industry in Wales the confidence to adjust to the ‘new normal’ way of working as we begin to emerge from the pandemic and set it on the road to big improvements in productivity and innovation.

The current COVID-19 crisis has impacted severely on all sectors but businesses are also considering how they will adapt in the future in an ever changing world. The food and drink manufacturing sector is no different and a new jobs site has been launched with the aim of matching vacant posts with relevant job seekers.

Applications for the new Welsh dairy support scheme will open on 18 June, supporting farmers hardest hit by the recent exceptional market conditions due to COVID-19 Rural Affairs Minister, Lesley Griffiths, confirmed.
