The Welsh Government would like to congratulate Fay Francis on her New Year’s honours, being awarded MBE for her services to the Welsh Food and Drink industry.
Fay has worked as an external contractor providing over the last 12 years, providing expert support to producers and businesses in Wales on the EU Protected Food Name (PFN) and UK Geographic Indications (GI) schemes for food and drink products.
Fay’s determination and drive to develop the Welsh GI family has seen Wales outperform the rest of the UK in terms of successful EU and UKGI applications, taking our Welsh GI family to a total of 19 members to date, with several more applications in the pipeline.
Fay has helped promote the Welsh food and drink industry and helped showcase to the world, the exceptional products which Wales has to offer and has enabled our Welsh GI family members to share their unique heritage, authenticity and expertise through their coveted GI status.
Fay’s contribution will leave a legacy which will continue to benefit Wales, its producers and citizens for years to come as the GI family continues to grow and contributes to Wales in becoming a leading food nation.
We look forward to carrying on the excellent working relationship with Fay and thank her whole heartedly for her contribution and service to the Welsh Food and Drink Industry.
