We work by calendar month – so from the 1st day of each month you can start using the new 500 words of translation for that month.
Of course - you can split your translations over the month, but don't forget to check you don't go over your 500 words. You can send in up to ten requests a month.
Unfortunately, you can’t pay Helo Blod to translate more than 500 words a month. However, you can search for an independent translator through Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru (they’re the association of Welsh translators and interpreters).
Yes, we refer to Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru (they’re the association of Welsh translators and interpreters).
We’ll try, but we can’t guarantee it. Helo Blod already has quick turnaround targets:
- Short translation (1–5 words) — 1 working day
- Longer translation (6–500 words) — 4 working days
- Text-checking — 4 working days
Give us a call and we’ll do our best to help. But because everyone’s job is important to us, we can’t give priority to any individual.
If you do need your translation done more urgently, we’d recommend trying Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru (they’re the association of Welsh translators and interpreters).
Unfortunately, Helo Blod can’t help you with Welsh to English translations. But there are plenty of people who might be able to help – try searching the Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru website (they’re the association of Welsh translators and interpreters) or the National Centre for Learning Welsh.
Yes, Helo Blod can assist, with the help of our friends in the Welsh Government’s Copy Unit. They can convert both Welsh and English text into Braille or large print format.
The service is free, and usually takes a day or two (on top of our usual translation / checking times). A few things to bear in mind:
- If you’re uploading English text to be converted to Braille, make sure it’s in this format: Word document, Arial 12pt font, with no images, graphs, charts, tables, columns, headers or footers.
- If you’re uploading Welsh text, the same rules apply — and remember that Braille doesn’t recognise accents, so leave them out.
- If you’d like us to translate your English text into Welsh, and then into Braille, let us know.
By the way, if you want to convert print into audio format, the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) may be able to help. You can contact their Cardiff Transcription Centre on 029 2082 8540, or by email at cardifftranscription@rnib.org.uk, or on their website.
Unfortunately, Helo Blod can’t help you with Phonetic versions. But there are plenty of people who might be able to help – try searching the Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru website (they’re the association of Welsh translators and interpreters) or the National Centre for Learning Welsh.

It depends on the content of the file. If you can select the text and move it into a word or text file then we can help. However we can’t translate text that is in pictures.
Not sure about the content of your file? Get in touch (03000 25 88 88) and we’ll help you to figure it out together.

The 500 words of translation a month is per business / charity / organisation. You and your colleague can both have your own ‘Helo Blod and Me’ accounts but you would need to agree on the 500 words to be sent to us each month.
Yes – the more the merrier. You’ll all be linked to the same business but can have your own separate ‘Helo Blod and Me’ accounts. One thing to keep an eye on though is how many words you’re submitting each month. The 500 words of translation a month is per business / charity / organisation.
All ‘Helo Blod and Me’ accounts are completely private, even if they’re linked to the same business. We can’t share any information about another person’s account.
