Hand gathering

Commercial Hand Gathered Fisheries

Traditional hand gathered shell fisheries have a history covering generations in Wales, both in the North and South of the country. Cockles and Mussels are the main species sought for the end market, together with clams and seaweeds that produce Laverbread that now has Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
