Plas Madoc Leisure Centre

The community hub alive and kicking

  • Over 200,000 people have come through its doors since it re-opened

  • Tripled its numbers of paid full and part time staff to 23

On the verge of collapse, Plas Madoc Leisure Centre was given a new lease of life thanks to the local community. From writing funding bids to advice on setting up a community trust, the Splash Magic Community Trust received critical support from key partners to help them save and revitalise Plas Madoc Leisure Centre.Since it re-opened under community ownership in December 2014, the leisure centre has gone from strength to strength, creating local jobs and providing essential health and fitness facilities for the people of Wrexham.

“From writing funding bids to advice on setting up a community trust, the Splash Magic Community Trust received critical support from the Wales Co-operative Centre to help them save and revitalise Plas Madoc Leisure Centre.”
