A Caerphilly-based IT company is enjoying a period of sustained growth thanks, in part, to reviewing its digital marketing strategy with Superfast Business Wales.
excellence IT, which has been supporting SME’s since 2002, has been fully reliant on digital technology for some time now. From the integrated cloud software it uses to manage the business, to the proactive monitoring software that allows its staff to remotely fix IT issues for clients; excellence IT fully recognises the importance of digital technology within the IT field. It has invested heavily in this area to ensure it offers customers a fully integrated solution.
Co-director Andy Green explained: “Core to our commitment to quality customer services levels and technical excellence is our remote monitoring and management suite. Integrating seamlessly with our 24/7 service desk platform, this is our “early warning system” – alerting us to problems within our customers’ IT infrastructure.
Not only will it automatically raise service desk tickets, but our platform will “heal” many problems automatically, removing the need for service desk staff’s intervention. Having the ability to resolve problems before there is any impact on the customer is essential. We see this as a critical core deliverable from any secure managed service IT provider.”
Superfast Business Wales helped create a digital marketing plan to grow the business
Keen to expand its customer base and develop brand awareness, Mr Green attended a Superfast Business Wales business marketing workshop. He later received a follow-up one to one session with a digital business advisor, who helped excellence IT create a digital plan to grow the business through online marketing.
Anne Beer, operations director, explained: “Digital technology is integral to every element of our business. We knew we needed to develop a marketing strategy to drive potential customers to our website and ultimately, our services.
“The Superfast Business Wales digital marketing workshop gave our company a “focus” for our digital marketing strategy. As we didn’t have in-house marketing staff, we needed to establish a direction for our marketing ideas and understand exactly what tools were available and how to use them to enhance our business presence in the sector.”
Social media has helped increase engagement and drive referrals
excellence IT were keen to put what they learned into practice. They encouraged some of their employees to take ownership of specific social media activities and outsourced other elements to a specialist agency, in an effort to connect more strategically with new and existing customers. This more considered approach to social media and the content the business shares has greatly increased engagement with users across all platforms, helping to build brand awareness, drive referrals and even generate the odd sale.
Fast forward nine months and excellence IT is experiencing an exciting period of growth, having acquired another IT training company and hired a new digital marketing expert.
Reflecting on the help the company received, Mr Green said: “The workshop was extremely beneficial in changing our thinking towards digital marketing, helping us to focus on what matters and providing us with a wealth of ideas to ensure we chose the right path for our digital marketing ambitions. Meeting like-minded businesses and working with excellent tutors added greatly to what we gained from the day.”
