The Farming Connect programme supports the development of a more professional, profitable and resilient land based sector. It comprises an integrated programme of knowledge transfer, innovation and advisory services designed to deliver greater sustainability, improved competitiveness, and improved environmental performance.
This project adopted a positive stance, and set out to show, using geographic information (maps) as the main communication vehicle, that sustainable mixed agriculture (growing crops as well as raising livestock) is possible in many places in mid-Wales and brings multiple social, economic and environmental co-benefits, including jobs and a more vibrant rural economy.
This allocation of funding responds to the ending of the EU Rural Development Programme (RDP), which will close in 2023. It will ensure continuity of support for important actions previously funded under the RDP.
