We have supported a number of different projects in response to the challenges posed by the Coronavirus outbreak.

Bee Robotics Ltd developing a COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) detector, for effective surveillance of the virus within a community

Quay Pharmaceuticals Ltd - developing 3 innovative new products (Hand sanitiser, Nasal spray and Chewing gum), to help control the spread of the virus

University of South Wales validating a rapid test device using LAMP technology, to increase the capacity to scale up testing for the virus

University of South Wales - investigating Mass Temperature Screening Technology for COVID-19, which could have applications in education, workplaces and community events.  

University of South Wales and Grid Xitek Ltd evaluating the performance of a rapid COVID-19 test, with the potential for use in community settings.

Zoobiotic Ltd (T/A Biomonde) - developing operational capability to address the global demand for critical reagents needed for COVID-19 testing.

Airquee Ltd - developing a workable protective barrier around a patient before lifesaving procedures are carried out, helping to keep medical staff and patients safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Cotton Mouton Diagnostics Ltd & One Nine Design Ltd collaborating on the development of a device for rapid testing for active infection of COVID-19 and antibodies, to bring fast and accurate mobile testing to the community.   

Melys Diagnostics Ltd & Pi Logic Ltd developing a remote measurement of Blood Oxygen Saturation, for earlier detection of the virus.

Swansea University - developing an intensive care ventilator prototype, to support existing provision in line with an increase in demand caused by the outbreak.

University of South Wales & Panasonic Manufacturing UK Ltd collaborating on the development of a COVID-19 Pulse Oximeter Device.

AMRC Cymru - investigating the development of an environmentally friendly transparent face mask, meeting the demand for a longer term sustainable option. 

British Rototherm Group - providing a supply of face masks for the NHS, responding to the crisis and building resilience for the future 

Brother Engineering Ltd setting up a surgical mask manufacturing company in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to address the critical PPE and medical supplies shortages.

Design Reality Limited - developing an elastomeric reusable respirator mask, to support frontiline staff and the general public with a long lasting product.

EBS Automation Ltd - setting up a respirator mask production facility, to produce essential PPE and create a resilient supply for the future.

FSG Tool and Die Ltd producing a new design of visor frame, helping our frontline staff to stay safe while responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hardshell UK Ltd manufacturing masks and respirators in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, meeting current demand and building resilience for the future. 

Rocialle Healthcare Ltd creating a new production unit for face masks, helping to reduce the spread of the virus and contribute to the security of face mask supplies to the NHS in Wales and wider UK.

SURVIVA Ltd modifying their equipment to produce large quantities of Thumb Loop Gowns, meeting a significant PPE need

SURVIVA Ltd - converting their survival equipment machine to adapt to a redesign of the Thumb Loop Gown

Transcend Packaging Ltd - producing a newly designed face shield, providing protection from airborne particles and helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19.  

Tru-Plas Limited developing a reusable face mask, to enhance the supply of low cost PPE available during the pandemic, and in the future.

Aparito Ltd developing a digital remote patient monitoring system, helping to reduce the need for in-patient admissions

Bond Digital Health Ltd - developing a digital platform to track COVID-19 test results, helping to manage this pandemic and future outbreaks. 

Dulas Ltd providing online support to developing nations, helping them to use Dulas’ solar powered vaccine refrigeration technology successfully to save lives in challenging conditions. 

Loyalty Logistix Ltd developing their cloud based system to assist with the maintenance of adequate PPE stock levels, helping care homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Medical Analytica Ltd - developing Artificial Intelligence models to evaluate the intensity of infection from chest X-rays

Starfish Labs Ltd developing Apps for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping people stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Surgical Consent Ltd (Concentric Health) - developing a solution for remote consent to treatment, helping to minimise the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus and reduce the impact on the NHS.

Celtic Wellbeing Ltd developing a range of natural soaps with viricidal and antibacterial qualities, in an effort to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in an environmentally friendly way.

In the Welsh Wind Distillery Ltd - establishing systems that will allow the company to revert to the production of hand sanitiser whenever needed, helping reduce the spread of COVID-19 infection.

MckLords Ltd - developing a range of hand sanitiser and disinfectants, helping to meet the increased demand for these products during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

PrimePac Solutions Ltd developing the capability to produce sachets and wipes, to meet the demand for additional sanitising products.

White Hart Thatched Inn and Brewery Ltd - converting distillery output to produce ethanol, to help effort to address national shortages of sanitiser products.
