Milford Haven Port Authority Feasibility Study

Project Description:

MHPA has a shared vision to create a new waterfront for Milford Haven. Part of this plan will be to commission a feasibility study for the redevelopment of a vacant & redundant site in a key town centre location, known as the former Victoria Filling Station and Grade II listed Quay Stores on Victoria Road, which is owned by MHPA.

Project Outcomes:

The feasibility study looked at the initial plans for the building to become a multi-use cultural centre and considered how this development could best meet community needs.  It also looked at all other possible uses, together with concept drawings for the proposed development, including a 400-seater auditorium, retail and exhibition space, café and viewing gallery, office accommodation and bridge link to town centre.

This study has provided MH Port Authority with the information required to apply to potential funders for the redevelopment of the site.  The redevelopment of the site, alongside the newly-branded Milford Waterfront, has the potential to increase levels of tourism in the Milford Haven area.

Lessons Learned:

Allow more time for project completion to prevent extensions to complete feasibility options reports.

"The study has demonstrated the constraints but also the potential of the site with some interventions. It has the scope to be a key gateway and nexus that links the town to the docks and train station.  It is at the edges of the 400m walking circles for existing residential populations but could be made the centre of key movement lines for visitors and tourists to the town.”
