Project Description:

The project proposal is a two-year pilot which will recruit two project officers to explore how town and community councils can build community resilience through engaging their communities in developing local well-being assessments, plans and project activities. These will feed into and inform the county-wide Well-being Assessment and Plan undertaken by the Public Services Board (PSB), as required by the Well-being of Future Generations Act (WFGA).

Project Outcomes:

Original outputs such as the 7 published Community Well-being Plans, facilitated workshops, training sessions and establishment of community hubs were achieved.  Alongside this, the Project created interactive maps, created PLANED's Welsh Language Development Plan, launched the 'Pembrokeshire Communities COVID Response Survey’ and alongside PLANED, continues to provide support to address water issue for Barham Road community.

One of CWBR’s most significant achievements is the online package of resources for youth engagement in the community. The team are now waiting on news from funding applications to launch ‘CWBR Youth’!

‘PLANED supported us to work together and we now collaborate on spending ensuring the needs of the community (identified by the community) are prioritised. This would not have been so successful if we had not been guided by PLANED'

(Community Councillor)

Lessons Learned:

The Project would have liked to meet more and new people in communities as well as explore additional methods to engage people in more meaningful ways. It was also noted that

They would have wanted to adopt a  a means tested method to select the communities directly worked with as well as ensure clearer guidelines on what resources the project can offer each area.  There was also difficulties in recruiting Youth Representatives despite 8 councils expressing an interest in the role and an active social media campaign. We plan to overcome this challenge within 'CWBR Youth'.
