LEAF (Learning to Enable Achievement and Fulfilment)

Spanning Mid and West Wales, the LEAF pilot project created opportunities for a wide range of people to access well-being woodland activities, woodland skills training courses, week long intensive training in sector specific activities, mentoring, work placements and support for fledgling enterprises.

The LEAF project was designed to enable deep rooted change in each participant’s life, offering bespoke progression that works with the skills and aspirations of the individual. This project empowered individuals to help themselves to become independent.

The pilot year was a valuable learning curve for Tir Coed. It’s allowed input into the development of the full LEAF project and allowed the final projects going into delivery to be properly thought through and well-tested in advance; this also built up partnerships and aided working relationships with key players.

The range of participants who benefitted from training on the project was excellent and demonstrated how useful it is to offer this provision across a wide range of groups. The feedback about the quality and outputs from the training courses and intensive training weeks has been particularly positive and validates the Tir Coed delivery and progression model.
