POP UP CINEMA

The idea for this pilot emanated from a one-off pilot pop up cinema held at Theatr Fach in Llangefni in August 2017. The pop up ran over 2 days and there were 3 well attended film showings. The feedback clearly identified a niche for mobile community cinema events

The pilot wants to build on that experience and do very much as described in the opening project summary. The intention is to deliver a high-quality cinema experience accessible to all thus enthusing and inspiring communities. The pilot will establish the most efficient and effective way of delivering a mobile service to communities and grow the use of the pop up concept across Anglesey, involving community volunteers in the set up and organisation of their cinema events in terms of a pricing strategy, determining what films are shown, how often they are shown and in creating a social experience for each event. The pilot mobile service core volunteers will initially provide the technical know how to set up the and organise the pop up cinema but will establish the potential to pass on this knowledge and skill to community groups to enable consideration of local hubs across Anglesey and development of a sustainable infrastructure for the future.
