Power from the Deep Feasibility Study

The aim to establish if there is a site in the Wrexham area which could utilise the latent heat in mine water to heat buildings. This can be done with heat pumps and works in the same way as ground source heat pumps. An open call will be placed to find a suitable site with mine water and an adjacent heat load for example a care home, housing development, hospital etc. This project will be a feasibility study which we will employ consultants to carry out. It will specifically look at the potential to generate renewable heat from mine water and establish what demand for heat there is locally. The study will also provide an estimate of costs to develop the scheme and estimate the potential income and carbon savings.
