Reaching out, Drawing in

This project is a two year pilot designed to test the impact of long term work through the arts and in the environment with people living with dementia and mental ill health and adults with learning disabilities. Celfs previous work, like many mental health interventions, has been around short term 6-8 week periods of workshops. Celf believe that by working over a longer period, establishing relationships between resident artists and participants, and among participants themselves, there can be an impact on the health and well-being of those Celf work with and supports and create a body of evidence which we hope can help change the way the arts are used in therapeutic practice in Powys.

The two year programme of work will include two artists residencies designed to give participants the chance to work alongside professional artists with relevant experiences from their own life challenges and co-produce art work inspired by nature and the landscape. Celf will work with partners, including Radnorshire Wildlife Trust to create a new piece of art at Gilfach Nature Reserve near St Harman which involves participants in the creative process, from site visits to the reserve through helping shape the new art work and unveil the completed piece.
