This project is not merely a solar programme proposing a small initiative with a limited focus, this project aims to make BIG changes. Responding to climate, energy and resource challenges will entail building a vision and a plan addressing all areas of sustainability. Its not a one size fits all approach. Each school we work with will have different resources and needs. Each school will have different limitations and expectations. We want to work with firstly Llanfyllin school to help them build a long term vision and to begin to make the changes required to set themselves on a path to become a zero emissions school, driving positive change across the whole community. We do not want a sticky plaster approach to sustainability; we are not looking to tick a box. We are looking to put Powys on the map as a region leading the way in the transition to low carbon, sustainable practices. Schools play a central part in the local economy, community identity and social networks. We aim to change the ethos of an entire community, by developing a broad and inclusive sustainability transition plan.
