Working with Nature

The overall aim of the project is to build the capacity of volunteers and community groups to take a more active role in the management of our local sites, whilst fostering a greater understanding and connection with the natural environment. The project objectives are to: - Improve employment opportunities for NPT residents whilst delivering environmental enhancement, through work experience and development of skills in conservation activities. - Create a better understanding of the role that ecosystem services has in our lives and in our role in protecting and enhancing these ecosystems, through awareness raising and engagement. - Actively improve our local environment through delivery of volunteer led site management, for nature conservation benefit and as a community resource. - Improve the physical and mental health and well-being of NPTs rural residents through outdoor / conservation based activities, and increased capacity of partner organisations to continue with activities beyond the life of this project.
