Marty McCudden

Hailing from Scotland I studied at Strathclyde Business School obtaining a distinction in Masters of Finance. I also studied at the University of Strathclyde receiving a first in Economics with Marketing.

Moving into north Wales I am currently responsible for consumer sector coverage within pan-European investment-grade credit - sub-sectors under coverage include food and beverage, industrial goods and services and retail. The role requires searching for alpha-generating trade ideas for a broad range of portfolios in addition to relative value trades. Each trade idea is tailored for specific portfolios given risk tolerance, mandate restrictions and investment objectives. Also includes coverage of both cash bonds and credit default swaps. Credit default swap idea generation focused on long / short pair-trades designed to be market neutral, offering significant upside at low cost.

I also present monthly reports on sector views, identifying key macro themes and trends before analysing key bottom-up views and identifying trade opportunities. I am actively involved in monthly investment strategy meetings through expressing views on market developments, drivers, valuations and portfolio positioning.

Prior to this, I was based in New York and was responsible for US consumer and industrial sectors. Responsibilities within the consumer sector included autos and parts, food and beverage, healthcare, household and luxury goods, retail, services and tobacco. Coverage within the industrial space included energy and capital goods.

I have created and ran financial services practices and online direct to customer protection offerings over the last 20 years. I have also worked for a number of insurance companies and a number of UK and international banks. During all this time I also headed up a squadron of Petroleum Operators in the British Army Reserve.

I hold numerous qualifications within financial services and also military engineering disciplines. I also hold chartered status in Leadership and Management with the City & Guilds Institute of London.
