Joanne Shaddick

I’m Jo Shaddick, owner and designer at byjo.co.uk; a company that creates and makes bespoke stationery for weddings and special occasions.  I set up the business in 2006 while on maternity leave with my eldest daughter.  I wanted a job that I could do from home, grow alongside my family and indulge my creative passion, so I took the conscious decision to step off the corporate ladder and work for myself.  I now have a purpose built home studio and work with over 100 couples a year, designing and producing beautiful invitations, stationery and finishing touches for their big day.

I graduated from Cardiff Business School in in 1996 with a BSc in Business Administration before working in a number of supply chain, procurement and process improvement roles for both GE Aviation and DS Smith Packaging.  In 2003 is studied and qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply.  All of this experience gave me an excellent grounding in the skills I needed to set up and grow my business effectively and efficiently.  I have particular strengths in process analysis and management.

I am a big believer in finding something that you are passionate about and most of all enjoy to be your career. Setting up, growing and managing your own business, especially alongside family commitments, has it’s own unique challenges and rewards.  I’ve navigated and experienced many of these and I’d love to pass on some of that experience to help you on your own journey.
