Branded highway signs

The project aims to erect six branded highways signs that tell visitors using main roads that they are entering the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere. A feasibility and design study has liaised with Welsh Government over permissions, recommended specific locations for such signage, estimated costs and outlined the steps required. This application is to enable the erection of bespoke bilingual signs at six of the eight sites identified. Such signage will raise the profile of the Biosphere with locals and visitors alike, stimulating interest which can be satisfied through interpretation panels, web-based information and staff of tourism businesses. This application does not include funds to pay for this follow-on work, but that is being sought from the Heritage Lottery Fund's Great Place Scheme. The increased profile is likely to lead to extended stays, increased visitor spend, repeat visits and related employment opportunities, so this is an economic development project based on sense of place.
