Dig-I BeeS recognises and seeks to build on the work undertaken by pioneering institutions and universities from across the world in monitoring, tracking and identifying where and what honey bees do, how they do it and why. The information gathered and approaches adopted will contribute to the significant and growing body of work exploring pollinator population activity, behavior, habits and provide raw data to support international research on honeybee population sustainability. The Dig-I BeeS project is unique in the innovative approach proposed by its project partners, notably through re-purposing existing technology and adapting it to work on foraging honey bees.
