Great Little Routes of Wales

This project is aimed at making life easier for the independent traveller, offering a comprehensive guide to multi-modal public transport incorporating the Great Little Trains of Wales.

An online map will show how a traveller can plan a specific journey; with suggestions of places to stay, eat and visit along the way. Travellers will be able to research the route they want to use and what they want to experience, with downloadable itineraries.

The interactive map will include;

  • The Wales Way,
  • Airport entry points inc Manchester,
  • Liverpool and Birmingham International and Cardiff,
  • Ferries and Train routes. Also:
  • Traws Cymru Bus routes,
  • Cycling routes,
  • Significant walking trails and accessibility information.
  • This is complemented by a refresh of the Big Train Little Train book and website.

The project will also research the possibility of introducing a Welsh version of the Oyster Card (Cockle Card) with validity on different forms of transport.
