The project will employ a Business Development Officer to provide advice, guidance and development support to tourism related businesses within the rural wards of Neath Port Talbot. The project will also focus on helping businesses realise the benefits of working together through networking, sharing best practice and joint working, so making them more aware of what other services/providers are in their area and how their services could enhance their visitor experience will be an important element of the project. The main objective of the project is to support, encourage and promote projects that increase the contribution that the tourism industry makes to the local economy.
This will be achieved by:
- Encouraging the development of new attractions, facilities and services;
- Improving links between providers and local services to increase local spend;
- Encouraging a sense of place to enhance the visitor experience;
- Supporting and enabling tourism businesses to use ICT and digital marketing to ensure they exploit developments in new technology;;
- Encouraging tourism businesses to invest in energy saving measures that have a positive effect on the environment and improve business performance;
- Providing support to existing businesses and new investors to access funding and develop product ideas; and
- Encouraging networking, sharing of best practice and joint working arrangements and using case studies to demonstrate effective partnership working.
