If you would like more information about lamb weaning management and the do’s and don’ts, Farming Connect are arranging a series of themed on farm events on this particular topic.
Sheep specialist, Kate Phillips, will be present at these events and will be discussing different aspects of lamb weaning management such as when to wean, how to wean, the pre weaning management of lambs, and forage and grassland management.
A local vet will also be present to explain how to avoid health issues which can occur during this period.
Research and industry advice mostly agrees that 12 weeks is the optimum weaning age but, lower than target body condition score on the ewes, grass cover of less than 600Kg/DM/Ha, or lambs are growing less than 150g/day can mean that early weaning could be beneficial.
Booking is essential, refreshments will be provided. To book your place, please contact 08456000813, or e-mail farmingconnect@menterabusnes.co.uk
