Yr Egin

Canolfan S4C Yr Egin has appointed Catrin Watkins as the new marketing intern for the Creative Carmarthenshire network.

Every year, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David offers internships for students studying at the University to gain work experience. Catrin will join the team as a Marketing Assistant, having won the £1000 internship, which gives her the opportunity to assist the marketing and development of this exciting project.

Catrin Watkins is an Early Years student at UWTSD but also runs a small business selling hand-made earrings. Looking forward to the latest challenge, Catrin said:

"I applied for this post to gain experience in marketing and to develop my interest in creating and publishing creative content. In my view, it is important that students seize every opportunity offered them to broaden their understanding and experiences in readiness for the world of work. I'm looking forward to being part of an enthusiastic team and learning new skills."

Bethan Wyn, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Branch Officer at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, was involved in the recruitment process. She noted:

"It is great to be able to offer UWTSD students work experience to develop new skills and contacts in the world of work in a creative field, through the medium of Welsh. I would like to wish Catrin every good wish in her new role."

Creative Carmarthenshire is a new professional network that brings together the region's creative and digital professionals and practitioners. The sessions run through the network aim to encourage and develop creative and digital practice in west Wales. The network is part of a wider engagement project connected with Canolfan S4C Yr Egin and funded by the Carmarthen Focus Enterprise Hub and the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020

Through this internship Catrin will have the opportunity to gain new experiences in the arts, marketing, media and events as well as building new links within a number of areas and sectors.

As part of the role, Catrin Watkins will work closely with Llinos Jones, Yr Egin Engagement Officer, to create and develop creative ideas and new methods of marketing the project.  Llinos Jones added:

"We are delighted to offer this opportunity to Catrin giving her a wonderful opportunity to develop in a creative field of great interest to her. The internship will also give Catrin the opportunity to develop those valuable skills needed for the future world of work."

Alongside the course she is studying, Catrin will develop valuable marketing skills, and create and offer new ideas to the Creative Carmarthenshire project.

"Having a young person as part of the Team brings a breath of fresh air and I am very much looking forward to working with Catrin. I look forward to going on an exciting career journey with Catrin as we both learn and grow together."

Creative Carmarthenshire 2021 sessions will be published on our social media channels and on  Canolfan S4C Yr Egin’s website in the coming weeks.
