Ian Cooke-Tapia

Ian Cooke-Tapia  is founder and creative director of Cooked Illustrations, a visual communications agency specializing in science communication. Their mission is simple: to help researchers around the world achieve cultural, scientific and economic impact in their native languages using visual communications.

Ian started working in 2016 as a reportage illustrator on tropical science field expeditions, quickly noticing that often research is done at and around people who will never see the results of it.

Before starting his illustration business, Ian first attempted to open an arts coworking hub, which soon transformed into Ffangaí, a digital network for artists. The challenges of that project led Ian down the digital publishing route, creating a short-lived digital magazine, and to participate in international networks on the subject of coworking and the power of cultural organisations in urban regeneration.

Since 2021, Cooked Illustrations has been working internationally with researchers, educational institutions, private companies, public sector, and the third sector. We provide creative services, specifically looking to solve the complex communication needs of those with complex information with the potential for great social, cultural and economic impact.

Cooked Illustrations offers employment and early career opportunities to illustration, animation, and graphic design graduates in the Cardiff area.

Originally from Panama, Ian is also involved in a project to secure funding sources for regenerative agriculture projects in Central Panama.
