This project is to operate a small grant scheme that can ensure that smaller groups and projects across Powys -which would otherwise lack the capacity to access European funds - are offered the support to do so in a manner commensurate with the size of the funding awarded.
The project will operate under the theme of health & wellbeing and will be linked to supporting organisations and projects that have developed or adapted services to support people during the Covid 19 pandemic, and which now need to adapt again to changing needs as we start the process of recovery and the return to a ‘new normal’.
The grant scheme will therefore seek to support projects that pilot new and innovative ways of delivering small scale health and wellbeing activities designed and delivered through local community actors.
The aims of the project can be summarised as:
● the enabling of smaller
organisations to access European
funding through animation and
mentoring of formal and informal
volunteering groups in Powys
● the assisting of the bottom up
development and piloting of micro
initiatives in communities across
Powys, combined with the
adaptation of existing services
delivering health and wellbeing
benefits to local residents
● the enhancement of the capacity of
Third-sector organisations and local
volunteers to plan and deliver
projects in their communities
● the identification of projects that
have the potential to be scaled up,
and the dissemination of the
learning of these projects through
the Community Sector Response
Group (CSRG) and the Powys
Social Value Forum (SVF).
The outcomes from the project will be:
● Improved health and wellbeing in
residents of communities across
Powys as a result of community
delivery of new or adapted activities
that have the potential to improve
physical and mental health post
Covid 19.
● Enhanced capacity in the voluntary
organisations of Powys communities to plan, fund and
execute local development projects
● At least one locally trialled initiative
adopted for scaling up for delivery
Powys wide.
