Operating for 30+ years within the food & drinks industry in sales, marketing & business development roles across most trade sectors including grocery multiples, discounters, wholesale, foodservice, contract manufacturing and more. Industries  including, but not restricted to, confectionery, soft drinks,  chilled seafood, bakery,  healthy  snacking

The latter 10 years of the above was in the role of Sales & Marketing Director responsible for creation and implementation of sales and product strategy, budgeting, price negotiation, recruitment, management of sales and product development teams consisting of up to 20 personnel. This incorporated both brands and own label projects

Operating independently from 2011 with smaller type of businesses for periods between 12 months up to 6 years in helping to define their sales strategy, establishing the most effective routes and contacts to market, whilst leading implementation of targeted opportunities. Several of my principles have appeared on Dragons Den, one of which secured investment from Peter Jones, whose team I still work with.

This period has involved working with distributors, brand owners, producers and direct customer interface across both food and non-food industries both strategically and on an everyday level, the objective being to accelerate sales during which period major gains have been secured across numerous customer types.

Business top-tip

1)Always aim to establish a genuine point of difference from the competition with an established USP.
(2) Fully understand the routes to market
(3) Set objectives and regularly review progress.
(4) Don't underestimate the investment costs or the timeframes to success.
(5) Keep the strategy and its communication simple
(6) Focus upon consolidated growth ahead of expansion.
