The Vanguard Initiative is a network of around forty European regions committed to use their smart specialisation strategies to improve the competitiveness of their key industrial sectors and collaborate to support development in the uptake of new and innovative technologies and products.
Wales was an early adopter of Smart Specialisation and our new, mission-based, Innovation Strategy, Wales Innovates, is well aligned to the evolution of the concept of Partnerships for Regional Innovation.
We also presented Wales’s new innovation strategy to delegates from across European regions with an opportunity for discussion, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration and fostering a culture of innovation in Wales.
