Chris Davis

I have a particular experience of small and medium size businesses. Why? Because I have successfully created and brought to maturity three such service businesses of my own. So, I haven't just been a consultant or academic giving theoretical advice – I've actually been there, done it and got the tee shirt.  Although my businesses were radically different businesses, for me the core requirements of running such a business are the same. Firstly, you've got to keep a close eye on the 'business basics' and secondly you have to think out of the box. You have to manage the first consistently and well or before long you don't have a business. But secondly if you only do the first you don't see the opportunities that exist that may change your business from a marginal one into a very successful one.

Significantly, I well understand the importance of applying internationally recognised quality assurance standards in the management of a business. This comes from having successfully assisted the implementation of BS5750/ISO 9001 standards in a substantial commercial organisation.

My very first business was in business planning consultancy. What did I learn from that? All businesses need a business plan. So, as a mentor, I am able to recognise that a business must have a business plan and they must use it as the driver and continuous reference point for business management and growth.

I understand the importance of people in business. For 6 years, I headed up the HR and training function of a construction industry business with up to 1,000 employees. Whilst in that post, I obtained a highly commended recognition for the Investors in People standard.

I recognise the importance of not just applying theory to the day to day running of a business. I created and built to maturity an employment law practice that numbered clients from very small businesses to national and international clients. The success of this was based on personal recommendation. And for what recommendation - “Chris Davis just doesn't tell you what the law is, he tells you what you need to do to to handle the situation”. My whole ethos is “How do I help a business be successful.”

My own business efforts were so successful that, at the age of 52, I was able to retire. But not for long. After six months, I had to get back to business. So, from scratch, I created an internet arbitrage business majoring on European wide Amazon FBA selling. In 2019, my business turnover was €1.1 million with 7% net profit.

So, to sum up – and inevitably 'blow my own trumpet', I bring these skills to help your business. I am an excellent communicator and with strong analytical skills. I love applying practical solutions to business problems. Along with all that, I have considerable experience in developing business opportunities.

I can't wait to help your business!

Oh and just for the record, I have an Honours Degree in Law and I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
