James Wood

Having finished a Foundation year at Newport Art College, James started his career in June 1985 working at Brian Hughes Design in Usk at the offices of Sector Design Group.
After three creatively influential years, he resumed his formal design education at Newport, graduating with a BA (Honours) in June 1991. Whilst studying for his degree, James was an exchange student at the Hochschule, Luzern, Switzerland.
After graduating, James worked for Barrie West Associates in Ross-on-Wye and then Peter Gill Associates in Cardiff, but ‘self employment’ was always the aspiration.
WOOD&WOOD Design Consultants was formed in April 1993.
For over 25 years, WOOD&WOOD have sought to remain small and agile, working across industry sectors for private, public and third sector organisations alike. Always delivering creative, original and substantive solutions for our clients whatever the economics, fashion or technology of the time.
James has also been a Visiting Lecturer for many years at USW and UWE where he has taught on BA (Hons), Special B. Ed and PGCE courses, mainly onto the Graphic Design programmes, but also the Fashion, Advertising and Design & Technology courses.
James is also on the Board of Welsh Rowing.
James has been a Business Wales Mentor for the past 4/5 years and believes whole heartedly in the core values, expertise, impact and understanding that the initiative delivers to fledgling and growing businesses.
