Tom Anwyl

Tom joined the family business in 2001, and was able to share the expertise gained from his previous degree study at Imperial College London – where he studied civil engineering – and his 10 year career with Shell International, where he worked in both The Netherlands and Oman. He is very much involved in all aspects of the business, and his hard work and dedication have contributed to the business growing from strength to strength, to where it stands today.

Tom is a keen advocate for SMEs, and has travelled down to Cardiff on numerous occasions to campaign for SME rights. He is also passionate about upskilling and retaining employees within the business. There are 4 apprentices working at Anwyl’s workshop at any one time, and an impressive 20% of Anwyl’s 145-strong workforce began their career here as an apprentice.

Tom has been a business mentor with Business Wales since October 2013, and uses his experience and prestige to influence others and improve local communities around him wherever possible. He attends school visits and 'World of Work' Days, and sponsors a variety of local causes and sport teams. He has been the driving force behind Anwyl joining CITB’s Construction Ambassador scheme, which in turn has led to our most recent Ambassador, Matthew Allport, winning a 'Highly Commended' Award in CITB’s 2014 Construction Ambassador of the Year Awards.

Tom’s experience in the industry, and his passion for SMEs and providing opportunities for those in the local community, make him an inspiring and worthy business mentor.
