Awel y Grug Project Update - June 2024

Both leys were shut off for silage on 6 May and were then cut on 10 June and subsequently bailed on 13 June 2024. Both leys averaged just under 18.5 bales per hectare.

Available Kg Dry Matter grown in both leys have been monitored using grazing exclusion cages and the cut and weigh method since September 2023, up until closeout in May 2024. Results can be seen below in Table 1.

A second cut is planned for both leys around the 16th of July, while a further third cut is planned for plot A before the end of the summer. Plot B will be grazed by lambs.
