Llewelyn Rhys Jerman
Caersws, Powys
Llewelyn Jerman grew up on his family’s beef and sheep farm in Caersws, Powys, where he developed a passion for all aspects of farming – from livestock care and shearing to tractor work and machinery repairs. After completing his GCSEs at Llanidloes High School, he went on to study Agri Mechanics at Llysfasi College, achieving distinctions and merits in practical subjects including hydraulics, engines and transmission systems.
Alongside part-time work as a mechanic for a local farm supplier, Llewelyn has built up a broad range of experience across the agricultural sector, from milking and contract shearing to tree surgery and planting. He is vice-treasurer of Carno and Llanbrymair YFC and enjoys getting involved in local shows, charity events, and competitions – with a highlight being awarded third place in the U18 dairy stock judging at the Royal Welsh Show.
A keen footballer, he plays for his local team. Looking ahead, Llewelyn hopes to grow the family farm with his own beef herd, establish a machinery repair business, and gain shearing experience overseas.
“I know the Agri Academy will broaden my knowledge, give me insight into different farming systems, and allow me to meet like-minded, inspiring people – it’s an amazing opportunity that I am very grateful for.”
