Ruben Davies
Llangadog, Carmarthenshire
Ambitious young farmer Ruben Davies is currently completing his placement year on his family’s beef and sheep farm as part of a Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Agriculture at Hartpury College. Passionate about the future of farming, Ruben enjoys applying his college learning at home and plans to study agriculture at degree level before returning to run the home farm alongside his dad. His long-term goal is to develop his own enterprise and to build up a herd of cattle, keep sheep and eventually purchase his own land.
He has completed a range of Farming Connect practical training courses, gaining certificates in telescopic lift truck handling, fencing, and gate installation – all skills he puts to use on the farm.
A confident communicator, Ruben played rugby for his local junior side for many years and as a keen member of his local YFC, he enjoys getting involved with numerous community fundraising campaigns. He previously won the Junior Stockman award for Carmarthenshire and represented the county in junior stock judging at the YFC Field Day.
“The Agri Academy will give me a fantastic opportunity to learn how other rural businesses both in the UK and Norway operate, and I can’t wait to meet new people who share the same interests and passion as I have for agriculture.”
