Llwyngwair Home Farm Project Update - August 2025
Actions to date:
- First application of the seaweed bio-stimulant took place on 30 May 2025 at a rate of of 7.5L/ha via a 24m boom sprayer
- Second cut silage taken 26 May 2025
- Second product application w/c 14 July 2025 after slurry had been applied 10 July 2025
- Soil samples, quadrat (1m x1m) biomass yields, leaf tissue and forage analysis were taken from the trial field on 3 July 2025. All samples and biomass yields were taken from 3 points per plot and shown in Figure 1.

While the trial field did not show any obvious visual differences, even with the zero fertiliser plot, the biomass data shows reductions in line with decreasing fertiliser inputs; however a 30% fertiliser reduction was only accompanied by a 2.4% decrease in biomass yield.
