It was a successful evening for Richard Tudor, Llysun, at the Farmers Weekly Awards as he won the winner of the Beef Farmer of the Year award. The ceremony was held on the 6th of October at the Grosvenor House in Mayfair, London.

Having been a Farming Connect Demonstration Farm since 2015, Richard farms beef and sheep in partnership with is parents, Tom and Ann Tudor in Llanerfyl near Welshpool. In order to achieve exceptional conception rates at Llysun, Richard implements the latest breeding technology. Three quarters of the herd calve in the first three weeks of the calving period and 90% within six weeks. Around 98% of the calves are born alive for each cow scanned.

“Our aim through the Demonstration Network is to establish and demonstrated innovation in farming and forestry, by sharing the latest technology and best practice. Many leading projects are being undertaken by our Demonstration Network, and it’s encouraging to see that farms like Llysun, who implement innovation are recoginsed for their work and contribution to the industry” said Eirwen Williams, director of rural programmes with Menter a Busnes, which delivers Farming Connect which is funded by Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
