Rhys Pinder
Welshpool, Powys
Rhys Pinder lives on his family’s smallholding in Mid Wales and is in his final year of the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Agriculture at Coleg Cambria, Llysfasi, where he also serves as secretary of Coleg Cambria. Passionate about farming since an early age, Rhys bought his first three ewes with his own savings, later adding a ram and quickly making a profit.
Alongside his studies, Rhys works on a local livestock farm helping care for 300 Commercial sheep, 200 Welsh sheep and 100 Charolais cattle. He particularly enjoys preparing animals for agricultural shows and competitions.
A committed team player, Rhys recently captained his local youth rugby team to victory in the North Wales RGC Cup and also coaches younger players. He is known for his dedication, punctuality, and willingness to go the extra mile—whether during lambing season, before a stock show, or ahead of a big match.
Honoured to be selected for the Agri Academy, Rhys is eager to expand his horizons.
“I want to learn about agriculture in different regions and countries so the Agri Academy is an amazing opportunity to broaden my perspective, deepen my knowledge and learn how sustainable practices will help safeguard the future of farming.”
