Claire Jones and family – Pant, Llanddewi Brefi

Claire Jones is a farmer who embraces change. Alongside her husband, Stephen, she is in her third year of producing milk, after making the switch from beef and sheep farming. Keen to produce that milk in a way that is sustainable and which supports wildlife and nature, Claire tapped into the Farming Connect Mentor programme for advice and support from an established dairy farmer.

Pant Farm is now home to 140 cows, run on an extensive, spring-calving grazing system. Transitioning to dairying was a means of future proofing the business for the next generation; the next step is to introduce regenerative farming techniques.

Claire was new to farming when she met and married Stephen and joined him on his family’s farm. Born and raised in Ceredigion with no family background in agriculture, she started her career as a jeweller. But Claire has embraced agriculture, absorbing herself into the general running of the farm – milking, operating machinery, grass measuring and the administration associated with the business.

Kayleigh Rees-Jones and Family – The Wholehouse

There is a whole lot of fun, love and freedom at The Wholehouse. Experience a business in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog where both family and sustainability are deep-rooted. Kayleigh and her family run a Regenerative sheep farm and decided to diversify in 2021. Alongside the farm, they now offer luxury holiday accommodation, an exclusive wedding venue, and an epic dog walking adventure playground.

Brynich Barns

Brynich is a small family run business, which has been in the Jones family since 1966, starting life as a family farm and evolving over the years to the business you see today. Brother and sister, Mark and Cath, still own and run Brynich with Mark’s wife, Becca, and a team of dedicated staff. The Barn can be booked for weddings, functions, meetings and retreats. We also offer stunning accommodation in our self-catering cottages, with plenty of outside space in an idyllic setting. At Brynich we try to minimise our impact on the environment and make every effort to manage our land in a way that protects our biodiversity. At the end of 2020 we planted 10,000 trees on the farm to improve habitat for wildlife.

Cascave Gin

Cascave Gin, a family enterprise at its core, was born over a G&T (what else?). Founded by a mother and two daughters with an aim to craft an experience that captures the very essence of the Brecon Beacons, Cascave Gin is located on a working organic beef and sheep family farm near Brecon. Cascave’s portfolio currently includes three gins: The Premium Dry Gin and the Cave-Aged Gin and
