Jessica Rhian Jones

Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire

Jessica Jones is a focused and able young woman from a fifth-generation beef and sheep farm in Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire. Currently studying Agriculture with Animal Science at Aberystwyth University, she balances her academic work with hands-on industry roles including part-time relief milking, seasonal wool handling, and working on her home farm.

Her practical experience ranges from lambing, cattle health, shearing, and wool packing to food service and meat processing - all of which have developed her communication skills, time management, and resilience in a busy labour-intensive environment.

A proud member of Dyffryn Cothi YFC, Jessica thrives on learning through competitions, stock judging, and public speaking. Her dedication to the agricultural sector is evident in both her studies and community contributions, from supporting local shows to helping neighbours during busy seasons.
Jessica hopes the Junior Agri Academy will broaden her horizons, offering industry insights, valuable connections, and inspiration to diversify the home farm.

“Long-term, I hope to play a key role in advancing animal health and disease control while running and developing our family’s farm business.”

I am sure that the Junior Academy is a gateway to new friends, new experiences and ideas that I can take home to the family farm and use in my future professional life.”
