Siwan Roberts

Llanwddyn, Oswestry

Siwan Roberts grew up on her family’s 350-acre beef and sheep farm in Mid Wales. At just 10 years old, she started her own pedigree Beltex sheep flock. A graduate of Aberystwyth University who achieved First Class Honours in Agriculture in 2023, Siwan was awarded the prestigious RWAS/Aberystwyth University Student of the Year award.

Always focused on a career in farming, in addition to her involvement in all aspects of general duties, she helps manage the farm’s growing tourism venture. This currently includes three glamping pods with further plans to convert three barns into holiday lets.  In recent years, the family introduced Wagyu cattle, initially for their own consumption but the venture is now set to expand, supplying home-reared beef to visitors too.

Siwan is currently leading improvements in livestock performance, grassland management and soil health on-farm, with a focus on introducing more sustainable and efficient systems.

A longstanding member of her local YFC, she is now club secretary and also participates in Aelwyd Penllys, where she enjoys singing and performing.

“Visiting other farm businesses in the UK and especially meeting Wagyu beef producers in Japan, will introduce me to new networks, inspire me and encourage me to develop our own Wagyu enterprise. The Agri Academy will be the experience of a lifetime, I’m sure!”
