Lamb producers have an opportunity to access practical advice on the management of growing lambs from a leading sheep specialist at a series of Farming Connect meetings across Wales in April and May.

Independent consultant John Vipond will lead discussion on a range of factors that influence production, from good grazing management to worm control.

Mr Vipond said the ‘Managing the Growing Lamb’ events come at a crucial time for lamb production.

“An income shortfall due to subsidy change concentrates the mind,’’ he said. “When it occurs along with a significant fall in lamb price it is time to sharpen the pencil and make plans.’’

Days to slaughter contributes 45% to business profitability and underpinning this are some of the key technical priorities Mr Vipond will concentrate on, including pasture quality control and matching grass demand to supply.

The first event will be held at Welshpool Livestock Market on April 29th at 9.30am.
